For children there are toys and comics.
Location
Silhûs is in the heart of the lively water sports village of Woudsend. This charming village has several listed buildings, including 2 beautiful windmills that still work.
There are several good restaurants and cafés, and the supermarket is open 365 days a year.
Surroundings
A 30-metre walk from the house is Woudsend's busy waterway. In season (May to September) it is a constant coming and going of boats and people.
Near the village you can take a dip at a lovely little beach, and the Frisian lakes are right around the corner.
Shopping
The village has several nice little shops, including a bookshop, an antiques shop, a florist, an off-licence and a bakery. In the summer months there is a weekly farmers' market.
There is always something going on in season, and outside it Woudsend organises plenty too.
Food & drink
Woudsend is a lively village with plenty of places to eat and drink. On the corner by the bridge is De Watersport, with a cosy terrace. At the marina you will find the café-restaurant De Pleats, which hosts lots of events. 't Ponkje is highly recommended: a wonderful dinner in a historic little church. And don't miss the fresh cooking at Vis en Meer.
In Balk, beach pavilion Badmeester Keimpe is a favourite, and Heeg and the historic town of Sloten are well worth a visit.
